St Columba Anglican, Waterloo, Ontario

St Columba was born at Gartan in Donegal in 521 and was taught at the Clonard monastery and school. After he was priested, Columba founded several monasteries including one in Londonderry and another in Durrow, county Offaly. He left Ireland during a civil war with 12 companions and in 563 landed on the island of Iona, Scotland.

Rector of St Columba Anglican is Rev Dana Rodgers. It was in a 2-point parish with St. Aidan's Church, Elmira (left) until it closed in 2007. A service of thanksgiving and the deconsecration of St. Aidan's, Elmira took place on September 12, 2007.

St Mark-by-the-Lake, St. Clair Beach

St Clair Beach, Ontario is a community in the Town of Tecumseh, just east of Windsor.
St Mark-by-the-Lake Anglican has a growing congregation with most of the 2 Sunday services exceeding 75% of seating. As a result, the Church and Parish Hall is undergoing an $800,000 expansion (model shown below). The roof to the attached parish hall will be raised adding a half-storey with 3400 sq ft of space and the church will be widened adding about 3600 sq ft.

Phyllis Lucas Retirement


The village of Markdale has a population of about 1400. In 2001 it amalgamated with Artemesia, Euphrasia and Osprey to form the Municipality of Grey Highlands. It is home to several industries including Chapman's Ice Cream and has an annual Ice Cream Festival in August.

Christ Church, Lion's Head, Ontario

Lion's Head is on the Bruce Peninsula on the Georgian Bay shore. Since 1959 Christ Church, Lion's Head has been in the 6-point Parish of the Bruce with St Margaret's, Cape Chin; St Andrew's, Howdenvale; St Peter's-by-the-Lake, Sauble Beach; St. Edmund's, Tobermory and Trinity Church, Wiarton. Earlier this year, the Venerable Dr. Jawn Kolohon, after more than 7 years as rector, left to assume the transitional ministry position at St. George's, Owen Sound. Pastor Brad Mittleholtz of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Wiarton, is serving the parish in an Interim capacity.
