One of the events planned for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Diocese of Huron is the Pilgrimage of the Cross. December 3, the cross will leave from its current home at St. Paul’s Cathedral to begin a thirteen month pilgrimage around the Diocese.
The schedule is Wellington - December 2006; Perth - January 2007; Oxford - February; Brant/Norfolk - March; Waterloo - April; Saugeens - May; Huron - June; Lambton - July; Kent - August; Essex - September; Delaware - October; Medway - November and Brough - December.

St John the Evangelist, Brussels, Ontario
St John the Evangelist parish began in 1860 with the current building officially opened on the 13th of August 1876. Almost from the beginning it has been part of 2 to 4 point rural parishes; it currently has as its sister congregation Trinity Church, Blyth, about 22km away.
The original settlers in the 1840's and 50's were mostly of Scottish descent but English as well. The village was originally known as Ainleyville, named after the original landowner. When the Grand Trunk railway came through the town the workers on the line, who were mostly from Belgium, named the station Brussels. Soon after the Post Office also changed its name to Brussels and that became the name of the community.

Shown is the cross atop the steeple of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Hamburg, Ontario. The cross itself is about 69in, with the steeple 50ft tall on top of a 60ft brick tower. In July 2004 when the steeple was re-slated and the roof re-shingled, the cross was painted red-brown to make it more visible against the sky.

St. Luke’s, Broughdale, London, Ontario
Today is the 100th anniversary of the opening of St Luke's, Broughdale on All Saints' Day, 1906. Anglicans in the growing subdivsion of Brough, now part of London, had been worshipping in a mission church of St. John’s, Arva. The decision to build the church was made in February 1906, the foundation stone laid in July and the building completed 4 months later.
To celebrate the centennial year there has been a series of concerts that end this Friday with Alfredo Caxaj and his Latin Jazz ensemble. On Sunday there will be a 1906 style service celebrating All Saints Day. The differences in familiar prayers and order of service will show the subtle change in the Anglican service over the last 100 years.
Rector of St Luke's, Broughdale is The Ven. Jane Humphreys, Archdeacon of Middlesex.
