150th Anniversary Year

sesquicentennialToday marks the begining of the 150th year of the Diocese of Huron. October 28, 1857 the Rev. Dr. Croyn was consecrated Bishop of Huron in the chapel of Lambeth Palace, London, England. Benjamin Cronyn was the first Synodically elected Bishop in the Anglican world.

Sesquicentennial Prayer

Almighty and loving God, you have blessed us with the gift of this your Diocese of Huron. We celebrate the way in which your Holy Spirit moved your clergy and people to elect your servant Benjamin Cronyn to Episcopal ministry in 1857.

We pray that you will accept the offering of our praise and thanksgiving for the lives of those whose faithful service has been part of the life of this Diocese.

We dedicate ourselves to the ministry of Christian witness, which you have called us to live out in our own day and age. May the Light of your Spirit shine in our lives, enabling us to fill your church with vigour and excitement, while ever walking in the Anglican way of moderation, tolerance and conciliation. Guide us in the years ahead, as in years past, so that all that we say and do may bring honour to your name, through Jesus Christ who is our Light and Life. Amen.

St. Michael & All Angels, Windsor

Archangel St MichaelSt Michael, Windsor, OntarioThe parish was founded in 1957 with the first services taking place in the Rectory. The church building was dedicated on Christmas Eve 1959.

The church is named after Archangel St Michael who is the patron saint of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police, and sickness.

Among the church groups is a Guild of St Raphael branch. The Guild's concern is with healing in its widest sense - the healing of all creation, individuals, society, the environment. It is common in Guild parishes for the Sunday nearest to St Raphael’s Day, 24th October, to be given over to the theme of healing.
