St George's of Forest Hill, Kitchener
This weekend St George's of Forest Hill will be celebrating its 50th anniversary. There will be a grand gala reception on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. with The Right Rev. Robert Bennett, Bishop of Norfolk (himself a former rector) and his wife Kathie as guests of honour. The following day Bishop Bob will preach at 10 a.m.Later in the year there will be guest speakers at the 8:15 and 10 a.m. services: Rev. Jim Horne on May 6; Rev. Herb Horsey on May 27; Rev. Frank Thompson on September 16; Canon Don Ford on November 11.
Also planned are 3 concerts. The Three Cantors will perform on Wednesday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. (in aid of the Huron Hunger Fund) followed by a reception. The Rev. Tim Elliott will present a jazz concert with music and stories for life’s journey on Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m., and again followed with a reception. On Friday, November 30 there will be a dramatic reading of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” in the church followed by a final special gala.
